Sketchbook - Kuretake brush pen practice

Today I wanted to do a bit of practice with the Kuretake No. 13 brush pen. It's a nice pen, but a little difficult for me to control. I'm working on it.

The practice was done on a printout of an unused cover idea. I printed out another copy to practice brush inking with. I admit it, I'm lazy and didn't want to redraw the clean sketch twice.

It still took a few hours to ink this bit. Much faster than the tech pens, but still a little slower than I'd like. Things are bound to get faster with more practice.

I did find out what was going on with my right arm and left hand yesterday. We had to reschedule this week's chiro appointment due to Dr. Brian leaving for a seminar Wednesday. So, we were able to get an appointment for yesterday evening. Turns out the part of my spine that juts out a bit where the neck reaches the shoulders - that little bump at the base of your neck - had come out of alignment and was pinching various nerves leading down my arms.

A few major cracks and the pain in the right arm was gone. The left hand is still a little sore if I move the finger, but much better than it was. Dr. Brian said that's due to nerve swelling and will go down in a few days. I'm supposed to put a cold pack on the area to help calm down any additional swelling which, I haven't done yet. You know, I should really do that. Later.

I'm glad your pain's cause was such a simple thing and so quick to fix for you, Darc!

This pic is nicely done; and placing the horse and rider in front of that unfinished arch-way is rather intrigueing. Too bad it's not a ruined arch-way. :-) Makes me want to know what goes on there!

Yeah, me too. It's going to take a few more adjustments for things to stay back in alignment. Knowing to keep an ice pack on the base of the neck is a great help. I really need to figure out how to set up the drawing table so I can sit more upright. The table top pivots, but the legs don't extend any higher.

I know how to make the studio more ergonomic, I just don't have the room or materials at the moment. Maybe in the future if we move.

Thanks. I use going to use it for a cover and then decided on something else. Just one of the old sketches sitting around. :D
