'Escape' | inks, copic markers, white pencil, white gel pen | 9x12 | Commission
I need to work on my night scenes more. I couldn't get things quite dark enough. I'm still new to coloring anything set at night, so hopefully more practice will start to knock out the kinks. I should also stop using the pen to lay in solid swatches of black. While it works well on images that will stay black and white, it has an odd effect when used in colored pieces. As I mentioned earlier, the multiliner ink is a little shiny. It catches light in the scanner and on the original, messing up the dark look I'm trying to get. It also leads to areas that I can't shade well.
Again, everything's a learning process. Speaking of learning processes, I've picked up some supplies to try a new way of inking. If I can get this method down, I should be able to speed up the comic work by quite a bit. Thing is, I'm both excited and intimidated by the idea of learning to ink with a brush and a nib pen. It's going to take a while to figure things out, but it'll be worth the effort.
Commissions will remain closed for a bit so I can catch up on comic pages as well as work on that secret project I mentioned earlier this month. I'll let everyone know when commissions reopen. There's just a lot going on right now, so this really isn't the best time for extra work. Maybe in a month or so.
Thanks guys!
